There is no need for RS485 adaptors in your host PC - the first data terminal also acts as a network controller communicating with the host RS232 port 1. CPU:

Powerful compatible 8086 microprocessor running at 40MHz controls the terminal with 128k Ram, 128k Flash and 2k serial E2.

Network:

The host interface is RS232 2 or 4 wire RS485 multi-drop. Additional twin RS232 ports with 5V DC output, I2C Weigand (Magnetic Stripe and Proximity Reader) and Smart Card Interfaces are all provided as standard.

Keypad:

Manual data input is made by full travel key switch, silicon rubber key mat elastomer or wipe clean membrane. A wide range of single and multi space keycaps are available in many colours. The legends on all types of keyboard are fully customisable and relegendable keycaps are also available.

Power Requirements:

Unregulated DC power between 9 and 32 volts is converted by the internal power converter to regulated 5V to power local peripherals such as bar code readers.

All connections are made to the rear of the terminal.
