MX 'Gold Crosspoint' / Type G80
The mechanical key switches of the MX series have already been proving their worth in keyboards for
decades. They are continuously improved and modified in response to the most recent requirements
and research findings. Precious metals are used for fabricating the contacts.
In the MX key modules, gold contacts ensure low initial contact resistance and
favourable bounce characteristics. By using high quality gold alloys for the contacts and
shaping them to the cross point format we have given the MX key modules a high specific
contact pressure and excellent switching reliability. The modules have a total travel of
4mm and an extraordinarily long life expectancy of more than 50 million operations.
FTSC / Type G81
With the FTSC (Full Travel Sealed Contact) technology, we are offering a genuine
high-quality alternative to products manufactured in low wage level countries. In
conjunction with MY key modules, this membrane contact system is particularly well-suited
for large-scale production runs. The specific characteristics of the MY key
switches permit unrestricted use for professional typing applications. Together with a membrane set, the
keys comprise a sealed matrix system. The membrane set that makes the actual contact
consists of an active upper membrane and a passive lower membrane. These are separated by
a third membrane referred to as the spacer. The "heart" of this system is the
leaf spring, which is deflected by the actuator when the key is pressed. The leaf spring
presses the active upper membrane onto the passive lower membrane, thus achieving contact
closure. The MY key module boasts full 4 mm travel, high reliability, and a long life
expectancy of more than 50 million operations.
